Water in the home
How water wise are you?
Despite being the driest inhabited continent on the planet, Australians are the world’s biggest users of water, averaging out that each person uses around 100,000 litres of water every year. That’s almost 275 litres every day!
All that is just for our own personal use, too. When you take into account the water used for things like growing our food, and making products we use, Australians use around 1 million litres per person, every year.
Now that we’ve collected the water, and got it to your tap, it’s over to you! We all need to play our part in being water wise, so the water cycle can continue to support life all over the planet. Think about the different rooms in your house, which ones use water? How much water do you think you use in a year?
